Facebook rolled out a new “starred” review system not too long ago, and it’s patently unfair to businesses.
For starters, users are able to leave you reviews that could be completely untrue, and as a business owner, you are unable to comment or reply publicly to that review.
Second, and also just as bad, their built in mechanism for contacting and requesting that the user remove the review doesn’t even work.
This is absolutely ridiculous, and I made a short video to show you the problem…
With just about ANY other review service, even Google and Yelp, there is a process for business owners to respond directly to the review and I think that’s more than just “important”… it’s a necessity!
Until such time as Facebook figures out this snafu, I’m wondering if everyone shouldn’t just remove their address from their local business Facebook page?
Removing your Reviews
To do that, go to the admin section of your page, edit the business details, go to the details, and edit to remove your address entirely. This should instantly remove the starred review section from your business profile.
Hey Facebook, if you’re going to play in the review game, you can’t alienate the very people you are trying to get to spend money advertising! This is idiotic and I hope you fix it soon. Until then, we’re pulling addresses…
