A post this morning on Sphinn really got my fire going… Apparently, there is a document floating around out there that is supposedly a set of guidelines for the search quality team at Google.
Whether it’s legit or not, you can tell that someone put a lot of thought into it, and I think even Matt Cutts himself would have a hard time arguing with anything there.
The entire 43 page document keeps referring to the simple fact fact that a site has to offer added value, or it’s spam. While I certainly can’t say whether it’s from Google, I can’t imagine that someone would create that body of work, and then try to “fake” the source, when it’s good content, but you never know what motivates people, do you?
I did however, have a little problem with it, and it prompted me to leave the longest comment I’ve ever left at Sphinn.
Check it out, read the document in question (or at least the summary on the post mentioned at Sphinn) and add your own thoughts…
Wow, this is very interesting. Now I know that I can copy and paste lyrics and quotes and get away with it 😉
Too funny, April – That’s exactly what I thought 😉
It sounds like quite a document. I will head over and check it out. I can’t see it being for real, yet that is a lot of thought as you said if it is just a hoax.
Real or not, it’s REALLY good info, and can be taken to heart, IMO.
