I know that porn is popular, but I really don’t need to be told (or shown a thumbnail) when the most popular videos on Youtube are porn.
Is that really the way it’s supposed to work? Is this something I’ve just noticed for the first time? If so, i’d better block Google’s home page from my kids computer as an unsafe site.
Let me save you some time and tell you that any smartass comment left here like “personalized search is based on your Web surfing habits” is unfounded for a number of reasons, but primarily because as you can see, I was not signed in.
I don’t even recall changing the pulldown to show the “most viewed videos”, but even if I had, being greeted by porn on the IGoogle homepage seems a bit unnerving, don’t you agree?
I’m not a prude, and I’ve seen porn before (once) but I really don’t understand Google’s decision to make this so “in your face”. Has it always been this way?
Dear Google, I would appreciate your worrying more about stuff like this, than about devaluing someone’s PageRank because they tried to make a few bucks selling links.
Thanks for posting this. I have 2 small children and our homepage is always google. I may need to rethink that.
I looked this up today and saw the exact same thing.
While many companies have ethical codes to govern their conduct, Google makes “Don’t Be Evil” a central pillar of their identity.
Is porn evil? Depends on who you ask, but I can confidently say it is questionable material, and not acceptable to be on a trusted homepage such as Google.
How depressing. Porn even on youtube.
Google will not allow adsense on adult sites but you can advertise adult sites on adwords…hypocrites.
