I post at SearchCommander.com now, and this post was published 12 years 6 months 9 days ago. This industry changes FAST, so blindly following the advice here *may not* be a good idea! If you're at all unsure, feel free to hit me up on Twitter and ask.

This is just quick update to show that my Google Places impressions over the past 30 days are less than half of what they were the previous month.

This was the result of following the new Google guidelines that require local service businesses without a storefront to check a box that says “This business serves businesses at their location”.

As I wrote last month, Google changed the rules, so I complied and “checked the box”, and this is the result –

I suppose skeptics or the Google apologists will say that by itself, in an isolated environment, this doesn’t prove anything.

Some might even point out that it’s a hell of a lot better than “we do not currently support the location” but it’s still pretty stupid.
