Matt Cutts’s lightning round today dispelled two popular SEO myths…

1. The myth that .gov or .edu links are more valuable for your PR than others. That’s not the case, and Google has no more weight given to one than the other.
2. The myth that you should no longer use the BOLD tag in your .html becase the W3C prefers the STRONG tag. Both are treated equally, and there’s no reason to go back through the code of your sites.

Matt Cutts is Google’s lead engineer for the “web spam” team, and has become their public face for dealing with the webmasters and SEO’s of the world. His blog is read by over a thousand people daily, and last Friday he opened up his blog as a “grab bag” for questions, and that’s what he got, posted by over 100 different webmasters.

Rather than type them all up, he has made several videos attempting to get all the questions aswered quickly, and he’s been putting up a couple each day…

Here’s the entire SEO movie category where I’m sure he’ll be adding more. The first few start out looking a bit like he’s being held hostage, but the production value is improving, and you know that the content is nothing but SEO facts, not just opinions.
