In an effort to combat click fraud, which some say is the greatest threat to Google’s business model, they are testing CPA (Cost Per Action) ads.
Pay Per click ads can be abused by individuals clicking on each others ads, or even with rougue software designed to artifically click on Googles ads, driving up prices for competitors, or generating revenue on their own “Ad Sense” websites.
Google and others have paid back millions in fraudulent click charges t oadvertisers that can prove it, which has given buirth to an entire industry of pay per click protection software,
With this new CPA model, this would more effectively protect advertisers 100%, because instead of pauying by the click, they’ll only pay when a potential customer takes a pre-defined action, like a purchase , newsletter signup or a phone call.
