We got hit today with another 48 hours of Microsoft spam blacklisting, this time because a brand new hosting client sent out 30,000 e-mails in one day.
When I looked at the website of this new client, I did have just the slightest hesitation when I saw that he was an Internet marketer, however it never occurred to me that he could be a complete idiot.
To all those who are now inconvenienced for the next two days, with all hotmail, microsoft and MSN mail bouncing back undeliverable, I apologize, and rest assured that he is gone.
The user has been summarily dismissed from the system, his account has been suspended, there is no FTP access, no database access, no opportunity to come get any of his files, and no second chance of any sort. They are gone.
I’ve written before about the fact that you absolutely positively must use a third-party mail service to ensure not only delivery of your e-mail, but to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing spam.
Personally, I use iContact, and they have a free 30 day free trial:
Hi,
thanks for problem discussed. Understood, that account of this spammer was suspended AFTER he already sent thousands of spam mails. Can you, please, recommend any anti-spam plugin 9soft), which really works, if such a soft exists.
I’ve only ever found one 100% effective spam solution, and that’s to use a “Are you human?” verification for any received email that’s not already in your contact list, or a white list, a reply to an email you’ve sent them.
I like Spam Arrest (top banner on the right) and recommend it HIGHLY.
Why not just bulk email sending?
Do you mean why don’t we just allow it? Because we definitely don’t want to be in that business. there are too many hoops t ojump through and constantly changing rules. We leave email marketing to the professionals, and I use iContact for our own needs…
what is the cause of spamming the email and how to avoid spamming
Sending emails t omore than 24 people at a time on our servers is now how we are defining spam…
hmm here you are defining spam i.e. 24 mails and that brand new hosting sent 30000 email :S complete idiot :S
Spammers should be prosecuted, so that act done is quite acknowledgeable. We are all aware of the misuse the internet in the online world. Privacy of people is being violated day by day. So someone should put a halt to it.
Will the bounce last more than 2 days? Is there any way to prevent anyone from sending out 30k email. How about limiting the emails within say 24hrs for new clients
The “bounce” is permanent, and yes, there’s a way to prevent it, and there’s ho “happy medium” between 25 emails and 30k. I decided to cut it at 25. No more spam lists for us or our users…
If someone cc or bcc’s 25 people, then they’re flagged too, and mail gets stopped.
